Card Catalogue Drawers
The index cards are classified into Births, Marriages and Cemeteries.
(“Cemeteries” holds a combination of records taken from tombstones and death notices clipped from the newspaper.)
Binders of Family Names and Subjects
The family names in these binders are listed alphabetically. Some subjects you can find are businesses, public institutions, sports, etc. During the compilation of the “History of Dundalk” these binders were used for the organization of information. Audrey Clarke suggested that these binders be donated to the library. [Researched information was also placed on microfiche and sent to the Ontario Archives in Toronto.]
Filing Cabinet Folders
These contain information that has been received since the binders were compiled. Newspaper clippings of births and deaths and other family information are included. The cabinet also contains records for individual cemeteries, microfilm for the Dundalk Herald (N.B. not indexed and not complete prior to 1911), and other miscellaneous subjects.
We invite the public to look at the collection and to add information to the library’s holdings.
